Software Tools Database from GetNetWise

How Does GetNetWise Select Tools?

GetNetWise, managed and maintained by staff of the Internet Education Foundation, selects the software tools listed in its database in a variety of ways. Typically, GetNetWise staff relies on reviews in credible computer magazines, newspapers, and on tech-focused websites. In many cases, tools are selected based on the recommendations of GetNetWise project partners or Advisory Board members. Tools also are selected based on GetNetWise staff office or personal experience. All tools are vetted with the GetNetWise Advisory Board of experts.

If GetNetWise receives credible complaints, either from its Board or the public, that a listed tool fails to perform as described, staff will investigate and remove the product from the database.

Federal agencies are not involved in selecting the software tools listed in the database, nor in reviewing them.
